You Can't Shoot Sheriffs With Impunity

Rumor has it that Jason Castro was the next castaway from American Idol last night. I couldn't say for sure because our signal went out for a while.

I really am hoping that it doesn't mean our satellite went hurtling out of orbit and landed on a trailer home in the desert of New Mexico. (I hope they had insurance.) But even if that did happen, then I guess the company eventually rerouted signals through other satellites to bring us our much-needed programming, just not in time to catch any American Idol.

I'm guessing that Jason was cool with leaving, all laid-back and going with the flow.

Please feel free to fill me in on any life-changing moments from the results show (Paula-isms, star-sightings, performances of note, bantering between Ryan and Simon still trying to act like they're not secret lovers, etc.).

Maroon 5, or however you spell their name-they were awesome. You guessed right about Jason's laid-backness. The relief was tangible; he even said he was glad not to try to have to remember three new songs!

ahh yes. but at least he didn't shoot the deputy. i think he's probably one of the select few that genuinely enjoyed his final song. p.s. check out his band back home: "keeping lions". for once, i think paula's meds were kept in check, as sense actually poured forth from her lips last night. and simon was dissapointed he's not a)been knighted and b)the next james bond. (p.s. my husband and i are convinced that the mysterious *hand gesture* simons' been questioned on, this season, is entirely related to paula's spontaneous slurred outbursts. as in, "someone rescue her NOW". we have tivo recorded proof. and seriously. who can argue with tivo....)

I think the above comments pretty much cover it. Oh wait, I have a few uneventful things to add.The group song was lame-o. I think I even saw Syesha yawn in the middle. Some chick called in and asked David Cook if he'd take her out on a date when he's on tour. As much as I know he wanted to ask what she looked like, he didn't. I am guessing we'll probably never hear about that girl again.

And Jason's last song. He did everything but jump up and down yelling "I'm so glad to be going home!" He was ready.

I'm with Huse--group song was LA-AME. Come to think of it, I'd say they've all been pretty lame. Kind of ironic that Simon harshly critique contestants when their performances are "karaoke" or "cabaret," but then the group numbers are just barely a step above high school show choir.

Just my opinion!

Kat~I'm really going to have to keep my eyes out for the mysterious hand gesture. I know the one you are talking about but never connected it to anything. I think you may be right.

Kat, I wondered about that hand gesture link once but then never saw it as proof again.

Wasn't really into Bo Bice's performance. And he seemed to be belittling the contestants a bit.

The group song was by far the lamest and most awkward one ever. It was bad. I think the contestants were laughing at themselves performing it.

And on a better note, I am off to see Syesha's hometown visit tomorrow afternoon!

Poor David C. He looked a little uncomfortable with the whole dating question.

Yep, Jason was the epitome of laid-back. I'm gonna miss that smile, those eyes, and maybe even the dreads. He's a pretty cool kid.

I think the commenters who said Jason was ready to leave are right. If they'd have let him, he'd probably have been singing "Hallelujah" as his going-away song. I know all of us in *this* house were singing Hallelujah when he left.

David being asked on a date was the best moment of the night. Talk about awkward!

IMO, the best line of the night was when Jason said he shot the tambourine man.

I caught the very end...when Jason indeed left the show. I'm looking forward to his bound-to-happen first cd, which will be that groovy folksy, acoustic sound.

The thing is he NEEDED to leave
I have a feeling America only liked the dreads - not the sad voice behind it
Come to look back though - he's not a bad singer, just not my fav type of singer ...

;) sorry jason but your fmaily needs you back home to grace them with your shower singing

Okay, where'd you go? I've been checking back every day, call it stalking, if you like. I'm going through some kind of withdrawal here! Come baaaaaaack!
